Billy’s Bird-Day - This colorfully illustrated children’s picture book has a moving story about a young boys discovery of a tern nesting colony on cape cod.  Common terns and least terns courting, incubating eggs and feeding chicks become evident when Billy visits the beach with his family on cape cod. Through his own observations and new found awareness, and with the help of two rangers (my past life) who introduce Billy to binoculars, Billy recognizes the need for seabird protection and the balance that must exist between humans and Nature. This book also has full color illustrations of the four species of terns that nest on cape cod, with information about each one, and information about my research in Guyana, South America, where terns and shorebirds are trapped and eaten for food by the locals.
